UPDATE!!

Good news, guys! Scene One has been written! Though it was shorter than I expected, I decided to shorten the length of the play due to time constraints and general creative blanks. As for the casting, Brenton Eddy and Angela Newton have been finally drafted, meaning they are in this for sure! I'm excited to have both of them on, because I think they're going to be an excellent Neil/Lucy team.

I'm currently working on Scene Two. Things are moving fast now that I've started, and I'm pretty sure I have Andrea Spencer finally drafted as well. Sebastian Francis-Burnell has been fully committed from the beginning, and I have never been happier to have him aboard. For those who don't know, he is the starting inspiration of the story and now the play. :)

I have already definitely decided to do work with neutral masks when we start to practice. I think this is really important for the actors to learn how to exagerate their movements. I will also be working on projecting their speech, because many of the casted people are first time actors.

I'm not entirely sure I want to post the Scene One script on the blog, but I may reconsider and post it for the cast and their easy access.

Until later! -C

NEIL MORPHEUS BENEDICT: Brenton Eddy; Director's Notes

NEIL MORPHEUS BENEDICT.

NEIL: Irish for Champion / Passionate
MORPHEUS: Greek for God of Dreams
BENEDICT: Latin for Blessed - BUT this was chosen more for the significance of Benedict Arnold, the first United State Traitor.

Age: Sixteen years old.
Description: Shorter, about five foot six inches. Has blonde hair and icy blue eyes. Strong and scrappy looking, could easily win in a fight.

Some History: Born to Montgomery and Charissa Benedict, he was the oldest sibling. When he turned 8 years old he became the older brother to Lucy Tamah Benedict. He's used to his parents leaving him to take care of Lucy, but finds this ridiculously annoying and frustrating. This is not just because he constantly has his little sister in tow, but more because he feels he's doing their job more than they are. He shouldn't have to drag Lucy off to the skatepark with him, or go with her to friends birthday parties. There should be a parent around to do that kind of stuff. The older he gets the worse it gets and the angrier and more rude and rebellious towards his parents he becomes.

Further character development will follow by the author, director and actors. It's the view of the author that there is a balance needed between the developement done by the actor and the author/director. This being said, it will be an experiment for the author to see how far her development will take her before she stops and allows for the actor to continue the development.
